Beyond the East Window

Larry Smith was born in a two-room house on the side of a hill in Elmer, Missouri, on the same day the famous shot was heard around the world a few years before.  He was born again nine years later in Elmer Baptist Church.

He is a Texan by choice—mainly because he married native Texan Adella Genoway forty-one years ago, and returning to his roots in Missouri would mean a vast separation between himself and his children, Jeremy and Elizabeth, not to mention grandchildren.

He received degrees from School of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, Missouri, from the University of Corpus Christi and from Corpus Christi State University in Corpus Christi, Texas, and studied theology at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.

A retired teacher with twenty-five years of service, during which time he also served as interim pastor for churches in Corpus Christi, he is now an active deacon at Calvary Baptist Church in Bastrop, Texas.  He and Adella live on a hidden bluff outside Smithville, Texas, with neighbors who don’t need fences.

Beyond the East Window is his first book.
