"And Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel
out of Egypt?"                                                     Exodus 2:11

The Bible has many stories of prophets and heroes that did not know their role in God's plan until the moment that he needed them. It is often not until they are experienced in life that they hear their calling. Even so, the ground work for their role may have been laid out over a lifetime, over generations and even across the history of a people.

Collecting a number of books about the African-American experience in early Texas history and traveling the state regularly I came across some people of West Texas whose ancestors were Buffalo Soldiers and American Indian. They called themselves the Bluelip. The parallel nature of these lives to the story of Moses intrigued me: children of slaves accepted into important and trusted service of the masters. What if a prophet were selected from this history?

Bluelip follows the story of a young candidate for a Computer Science Phd. that loses her focus in the world. Returning to the West Texas home of her Buffalo Soldier relatives, she is wrapped in the love and rural lore that brings her to the place where she is able to see a new role for herself.

The surprising mix of computers, robots, cowboys, and rural spirit makes the story an unforgettable journey across some of the forgotten history of Black Texas and into an unbelievable but promised future.
